Visiting the San Antonio Zoo in April, I discovered hundreds of cattle egrets nesting in the tops of the trees throughout the zoo and the surrounding landscape.  The fledglings were at that point of investigating the edges of the nests to take that first leap. This painting was juried into the Southern Watercolor Society's 2014 National Exhibition and was the only painting that sold before the Opening Reception even began.
