Dreaming a Parallel Universe

Drawing inspiration from artists Deb Weirs and Bill Carman, I pulled out a large sheet of aida cloth for cross stitching and began to slap acrylic inks across it. Using layers of ink with a paintbrush, letting it dry between each, I built upon the abstracted color, sewing, embroidering, drawing on the fabric and layering more ink, adding raw edge applique, until this piece emerged. I needed to add in my precocious mini-dauchsund, Pippin, and my spirit animal totem, the blue heron.
